The Bailey Daily
I have been shopping online a lot lately – not that that is any huge surprise as it still remains one of my favorite pastimes (I think a lot of you reading this can relate too). Lately, it seems like everywhere I look there is another sale right in front of me or right around the corner. Quite frankly, I can never resist a good sale either. I’m always on the lookout for the best deals on Women’s clothing. Well, good thing there is Zulily because it is one of my favorite stores to shop at as there is a new sale every day! It’s literally an online shoppers paradise and I’m here for it….almost every day!
Everyone knows that Zulily is one of the best online shopping sites to shop for women’s clothing. They offer great deals on great brands – designer brands where you can find clothing items that are of high quality too. If you are on the lookout for high-quality pieces at a fraction of the cost, you will definitely want to check them out. Zulily is your one-stop-shop for everything – especially women’s clothing. Here today, we will discuss seven stylish high-quality items that I found on Zulily.com.
Levi’s brand is an American classic and cultural pioneer. Since 1873, they’ve been a staple in the fashion world thanks to original designs and timeless styles. This highly recognizable brand is known for its innovation, quality, and originality when it comes to style. Therefore, I love buying my Lev’s at Zulily as not only am I getting the latest styles, I am getting them at a discounted price. That’s something you don’t find very easily when online shopping. Especially, when good Levi’s deals are hard to find.
Loungewear and Jumpsuits
Loungewear is one of those clothing items that must be made out of high-quality materials. Otherwise, what’s the point? I want to be lounging in the softest of the soft and in fabrics that will last a long time and not pill or wear out over time (or a few washes). The Suzanne Betro collection has really impressed me in that regard. Earlier this year I invested in a really nice cozy jumpsuit and a two-piece pant and long open duster set. The quality exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend purchasing an item or two from the Suzanne Betro collection. I may be going back to buy another set very soon.
I love buying my athletic wear at Zulily too. You can find so many high-quality pieces from brands like Beyond Yoga, Champion, and Gaiam to name a few. You can also find brands like Marika that make workout gear in moisture-wicking fabrics with Coolmax technology to keep you cool. Another great part about Zulily is that they have taken the initiative to offer sustainable brands that make their products out of eco-friendly fabrics too. So, you will also feel good about purchasing items like leggings and sports bras that are made out of recycled plastic.
Shoes and Slippers
Shoes and slippers are always my biggest downfalls. I end up buying way more than is humanly necessary for one person to own. I also laugh as I have been barely going anywhere lately this year and last, so what am I buying so many shoes for anyways? I guess to just add to the collection and therefore, I continue shopping for more shoes! Zulily has so many high-quality shoes and slippers to choose from that I have a heyday. Some of my favorite brands on the site are the Koolaburra by UGG – they carry a variety of boots and the coziest and plush slippers you have ever felt. And the best part? You are guaranteed to get them at an amazing deal!
One of my latest obsessions is stacking rings, dainty bracelets, and evil eyes. Another one of my favorite pastimes is scrolling the pages of Zulily to find the perfect “next accessory” to add to my collection. I found some really unique finds including an authentic turquoise ring and a dainty evil eye ring that I can stack along with my other little gold rings. Shopping their accessory department makes me happy and I almost always find something unique and high-quality that is a must-have piece
So whether you are doing some “back-to-school” shopping for yourself or just needing to stock up on a few high-quality pieces, make sure and check these items out first! After all, it is never too late (or too early) to start investing in high-quality pieces that will last. Where quality over quantity is the name of the game, get to shopping and you can find pieces that will make your wallet exclaim: Hooray!

For many of us, including myself, our fancy handbags have been shelved or replaced by more practical items during stay-at-home orders. Mine have barely seen the light of day during this year. If anything, I began to simplify or downsize my items to carry when I left the house down to a fanny pack or keychain wallet that was attached to my car keys. Soon, we’ll get to strut our style again in public. So, dust off your trusty Coach or Kate Spade bag as we begin to re-emerge (though your designer bags need love too).
I am here to say that handbags (and fashion for that matter) have been inspired by iconic characters of the past like one of my favorites, Carrie Bradshaw. What can we learn from Carrie Bradshaw’s handbag style that is also relevant today? Well, let me tell you because everything always comes full circle! (Spoiler alert: the 90’s revival strikes again!)
I could probably stop right here and tell you if you had to have one bag this season or year, the baguette would be the one. A baguette bag is usually a small shoulder bag, featuring a shoulder-length strap, rectangular silhouette, and a foldover or zip closure. Much as the article title implies, this is the bag that Carrie Bradshaw made famous in “Sex in the City.” In the scene where Carrie gets robbed in New York City for her fancy evening bag by an armed man in an alley, she’s told to” Gimme the bag,” After he repeats himself, “Gimme the bag,” she hilariously replies (almost to correct the man), “It’s not a bag, it’s a baguette!” Her Fendi baguette bag was equally as notable through much of the early seasons. Remember the Coach Soho Mini Baguette Bag with the buckle that everyone seemed to own in the early 2000s? (I did not). This style of bag is so cute with its cute short strap which fits perfectly on your shoulder and tucks right by your side. With all of the modern elements and design updates, the baguette bag can be found in some new styles too. Grab one in a bright color, with gold hardware, or in a sleek animal texture. It’s such a fun little size too, like one of those fun-size candy bars.
This is the one time it’s okay for your baggage to be oversize and you won’t get charged for it! Designers are taking it a bit to the extreme this season with some of the oversized bag styles on the runway. However, if you want to jump on the trend, it can be a fun one. You can find anything from huge hobo bags to enormous totes. Some of these so-called “handbags” resemble actual pieces of luggage! My advice? Do your own edit on how you want to interpret the trend. For example, if your style is like Carrie’s, you would do so with an oversized clutch bag; one that is both day and evening wear appropriate (probably something with feathers).
Carrie was not shy when it came to her sense of fashion. Therefore, neither were her bags. They were bright, bold, and beautiful! The baguette bag as mentioned above was a glitzy purple sequin. There is another famous scene where she struts through Central Park carrying a large structured navy blue Hermès Birkin bag. Fun fact: it’s later revealed that the bag was actually used to hide her baby bump in the scene while she was pregnant with her first child, James. I love this trend because you can make even the simplest outfit pop with an eye-catching handbag in a colorful hue. Lots of exquisitely bright colors that come in all shapes and sizes.
Bags with hardware, chains, and any kind of gold or silver hardware are included in this category. The chunky gold chain straps or round clasp fixtures really make this handbag a standout style. Plus, we are seeing the masculine chain strap mixed with the elegant feel of a feminine leather pouch for a yin and yang vibe.
Relating back to Ms. Bradshaw was her highly coveted Dior Saddle Bag back in the 2000s. This dainty shoulder bag can also be carried under the arm. In this case, Carrie’s was a chain print handbag. It also came fixed with gold metal hardware with the initials CD for Christian Dior. The oblique design handbag is one of the most iconic handbags of our time primarily accredited to the SATC series.
BELT “TECH” BAGS
Another iconic Carrie Bradshaw look was the Gucci belt bag and crop she wore on Season 4. While the trend caused a frenzy back then, there was certainly a long period where the belt bag as not trending. Now, the belt bag is back with a vengeance! This season, the belt bag can be seen as a fashion-forward tech-related accessory to hold your cell phone. It’s great because if you’re just going out to run a quick errand, the belt bag will come in handy (even though it’s hands-free!). This on-trend handbag style is both fashionable and functional. You get the best of both worlds.
Prince may have wanted to party like it was 1999 ever since the day he wrote the song back in 1982, but the Gen Z and millennial generation are trying to go back and dress like it’s 1999, today. I have seen this term, Y2K fashion swirling around social media for quite some time, so I figured it was time to sit down and fully dissect what it means, its history, and how you can pull off the look in 2021.
WHAT IS Y2K FASHION?
It is the reemergence of the clothes and aesthetic trends from the late ‘90s and early 2000s (2000-2010). Fashion trends are cyclical so it was only a matter of time before this era came back in style. It has also been made popular by Gen-Z as they were too young to fully embrace it when they were young and millennials to recreate their early teen fashion energy.
Y2K fashion embraces the period in time where the world was in a state of fear or having an end of the world crisis mentality. It was then intermixed with futuristic advancements in technology and pop culture. Pop stars like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton were trendsetters in their bedazzled low-rise jeans, velour tracksuits, or mini sunglasses to name a few. Basically, statement pieces and over-the-top fashion will turn heads.
Why is it making a comeback?
Well, like all fashion trends, they come back around at some point. We can also thank the likes of the HBO series “Euphoria” for inspiration. However, possibly because much like the dawn of the 2000s when there was immense fear about the end of the world, it’s similar to what we are going through now. It’s like a rebirth after surviving a pandemic and spending a lot of time indoors. Much like the turn of the 21st century marked the start of an entirely new era, so has this year. So, this Y2K fashion obsession could also signify a bold, bright new way of dressing to bring happiness to an overall dark year.
HOW DO YOU WEAR THE Y2K TREND?
What’s old is new again with Y2K-inspired styles, bold patterns, and over-the-top accessories. Because Y2K fashion is making a comeback, here are some of the top pieces to rock (or let your daughter rock) in 2021.
Join the corset craze in waist-cinching designs that are this summer’s hottest statement piece. Corsets have been one of the most-searched-for items on the web recently and with all the new styles to choose from, it is obvious to see why. They are structured, a little sultry. You can also layer your corsets over T-shirts and tanks for a more casual, laid-back look.
Well, the obvious brand that made velour tracksuits popular back in the early 2000s is Juicy Couture. If you’re like me or most girls during that time, then you owned a couple of different velour tracksuits in a variety of colors and the perfume to go with. Nowadays, velour tracksuits are making a comeback in an array of bright colors with matching hoodies and even bralettes. Dress them up with the latest platform sandals, your colored sunglasses, and a baguette bag.
I recently wrote an article about how Carrie Bradshaw made the baguette bag super popular in the hit series “Sex and the City.” It’s no wonder this bag is on the list for being a Y2K fashion sensation. One that is getting a lot of hype on the social media scene is the Prada baguette bag. Although, if you’re not looking to spend an arm and a leg (me!), I suggest a cute little colorful shoulder bag with a gold chain strap, that will tuck nicely under your arm.
Wide-leg, loose-fitting jeans were mostly brought to you by the skaters of this generation for a grunge-inspired look. However, the girls of this decade gave them a feminine twist when paired with a crop top or baby tee. Remember Tai, Britney Murphy’s character, from Clueless? She made this style iconic.
Crop tops and baby tees are another major Y2K trend. These teeny-tiny T-shirts were so cool back in the day with kitschy graphics, funny sayings, or symbols. Or, if you wanna wear the trend a different way, try a mock neck crop top in a multicolored stripe or bring pink. This shorter style top pairs well with high-waisted anything like loose jeans, joggers, bike shorts, boxer shorts, or pleated skirts.
As if! Yes, pleated skirts are also making a comeback in Y2K fashion, thanks to Cher from “Clueless” and the Britney Spears music video for “Hit Me Baby One More Time.” So, lots of plaids and bright colors will be the perfect match for a pleated skirt. To complete the look, opt for crop tops, baby tees, and sweater vests. Knee socks and Mary Jane style shoes or boots are optional.
MESH AND METALLICS
Luminous fabrics were reminiscent of the early 2000 tech boom and the millennium-inspired futuristic fashion like in “The Matrix.” Lots of silver and opalescent hues were everywhere, paired alongside bright neon shades of pink, green, and yellow. Wear your mesh and metallics on jackets, bags, or even crop tops.
Bucket hats, bandanas, butterfly hair clips, and mini sunglasses all are another part of the Y2K trend. They are also perfect for summer for keeping your face out of the sun and your hair looking done!
Do you think you’ll be wearing any Y2K fashion this year? As Y2K fashion is back in a major way. Just like Prince said, even in 2021, we will be partying like it’s 1999.
Not ready to give up your pajamas quite yet? Me neither. I have become so accustomed to my work-from-home uniform that looks something like a healthy rotation of joggers, t-shirts, or a matching loungewear set. Who would argue that working from the comfort of your home in your “comfies” has been a bad way to live your life? Well, wearing pajamas out of the house is officially in. Here’s a list of ways that your sleepwear can double as streetwear:
Why not wear your favorite striped or white shirt sleep-dress as a streetwear dress? A simple button-down shirt like The Perfect Boyfriend Shirt from Summersalt is a perfect way to rock the look. You can pair it with cropped pants and sneakers, dress it up with heels and a crossbody bag or dress it down as a swimsuit cover-up and flip-flops to the beach!
MATCHING SWEATSUIT SETS
Sweatsuit sets were a major fashion trend during quarantine in 2020 and this year there’s no exception. Most people own some version of a matching sweatsuit at this point, so I don’t feel this one will be a hard one for most to come by. Pair with casual white sneaks but if you really want to take this trend to the next level, opt for a pair of barely-there heels! That will be an eye-catcher for sure!
SATIN PAJAMA SETS
Slinky satin pajama pants or shorts are elegant items that are perfect for lounging at home or going out. If you have a matching satin top, wear them together! Wear The Cloud 9 Pajama Set matching set by Summersalt from the bedroom to the streets or wear them as separates with a simple sweater, button-down, or T-shirt. Add a neutral embellished slide, ballet slipper, or men-inspired loafer. To complete the look, add accessories like a handbag or belt.
Silk or satin robes worn as jackets are such a fitting way to incorporate sleepwear into streetwear. If you’re looking for something a little bolder, add a leopard print, bright-colored hue, or bold floral print robe. Add a simple t-shirt or tank with pants and heels and you’ve got an elegant look that was made for the streets.
While this may be something you would have worn pre-pandemic, it’s even more on-trend right now. A lace camisole paired with loose high-waisted jeans is sleepwear-inspired and pairs well on the streets too. Add a pair of braided slides and a blazer for a chic look.
Jogger jeans (sometimes referred to as jeggings, pajama jeans, or sweatpant jeans) became even more popular this year. They are made out of cotton and have the look of a jean. They are super versatile and can be dressed up or down.
Colorful caftans with bright bold colors and prints are perfect for this time of year. Pair them with matching palazzo pants to elongate your silhouette. Caftans are also great on their own worn with a pair of slides or as a beach cover-up!
Even your comfy jumpsuits or your cotton onesies are stylish outside. If your loungewear is in cashmere or merino wool, those styles are super chic to rock on the street. Perfect for this coming fall with Chelsea or combat boots.
Velour tracksuits are perfect for any indoor or outdoor activity. For an easy ensemble, just throw on some fashion sneakers and your tech gadget accessories, then head out the door.
The slip dress is a no-brainer when it comes to wearing sleepwear as streetwear. This stylish garment transitions wonderfully from day to night. Just dress it up with strappy heels and a leather jacket. Or, you can dress it down by wearing a T-shirt or long-sleeve underneath.
FAUX LEATHER SLIDES
This one is one of my favorite trends to come out of quarantine. Sherpa slippers worn as streetwear are so on-trend right now. I think it’s just so chic; I recently saw celebrities like Megan Fox wearing the UGG Fluff Yeah slippers in Beverly Pink.
Nap dresses, or shall we say, nightgowns, are the most effortless and feminine look. Nap dresses with smocked details are adorable worn alone with simple accessories like a straw hat and neutral-colored slides. However, if you want to truly modernize your nightgown on the streets pair it with a thick belt strappy heels.
With all these fun styles and all the new sleepwear and loungewear that you have collected during quarantine, what will you dare to wear as streetwear?
It takes a true fashionista to nail the boho-chic aesthetic and make it look effortless, even though we all want to. It’s been one of the hottest fashion trends for quite some time and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.
WHAT IS BOHO CHIC?
The definition of boho is one who leads an unconventional lifestyle.
Boho is flowy and free but edgy at the same time. It’s ethereal and effortless. Boho isn’t just a style, it’s an attitude. Boho is a free spirit with a creative, artistic, worldly-inspired lifestyle.
The style takes after meaning and is heavily influenced by 1970s style and design. Boho chic style incorporates an eclectic mix of various textures, natural elements, colors, patterns, and layers from all over the world.
BOHO-CHIC STYLE CLOTHING ESSENTIALS
It’s highly possible that you already own a few pieces in your wardrobe that are boho chic approved. Boho style is one of my all-time favorite ways to dress but it can be difficult to pull off. Therefore, this will be a simple, easy guide to help you achieve boho style in no time.
Maxi dresses or floor-length gowns made of lightweight fabrics are the number one item for a boho-chic style. Flowy maxi dresses are ideal for summertime, whether you are headed to a get-together with friends, going to the beach, or an outdoor live music festival. Opt for feminine florals, peasant styles, or lace elements. Or look for this season’s hottest trend, crochet, as a fun insert on the dress.
BLOUSES & KIMONOS
Boho blouses and kimonos in comfortable, loose-fitting, and flowy fabrics are ideal for layering. Materials like linen, chiffon, or one that’s silky smooth with a drape will be perfect for this trend. Also, look for fun bold prints or embroidered blouses and kimonos to nail this look.
Cardigans are essential to any boho look. The slouchier, the better. Often they are worn oversized or worn off the shoulder for an effortless look. Slouchy cardigans make the best layering pieces and are great to wear all year round – fall, winter, spring, and even summer when the evenings get cooler. Try chunky knits over tanks, maxi dresses, with jeans or shorts this summer.
Grab your favorite pair of flared jeans to create the foundation of the go-to boho look. I love any type of high-waisted flares that accentuate the waistline, especially when paired with crop tops, tanks, and blouses. Pair them with a slouchy cardigan and a platform shoe or clog for a cool summer-style look.
Did I mention it’s all about the layers to achieve the ultimate boho style? Vests are another great way to add some excitement to different pieces. Play with different textures like suede, fringe, delicate lace, or even denim. Embellishments like beading or tassels add extra flair. Keep the look tasteful by layering your vest over a tank with your flare jeans or with a simple maxi skirt or dress like an LBD.
Finally, to complete your boho look, you are going to need accessories. A lot of accessories.
A bag in a hobo or crossbody style. The slouchier, the better. Then, add large, oversized sunglasses in the round, aviator, cat-eye, or classic retro styles. Scarves and headbands are also another way to layer with color and patterns. Wear scarves as headscarves, shawls, or tie them into a scarf top! These accessories will absolutely pull that boho-chic vibe together.
Jewelry could be one of the most important elements in boho fashion to set your look apart. When it comes to boho jewelry; the more eclectic, the better. Some of my favorite pieces are large turquoise stone rings, gold coins, or gold necklaces and rings. Layer gold chains, nature-inspired pendants, and dainty necklaces. Then pile on bangles, beaded bracelets, and other statement bracelets to add texture and color. The idea is the more the merrier, so don’t be afraid to layer on that boho jewelry either!
Wide-brim hats or fedoras are all the rage on social media. They are also perfect for summer as they will shade you from any harmful rays. Look for simple straw styles for the summer months and felt ones for the fall and winter. Straw hats and fedoras will look adorable with sundresses, maxi dresses, or basically, any summer style you choose for added boho-chic vibe.
In order to complete that head-to-toe look, you are going to need a great pair of leather sandals. I love a slide style that is functional and easy to take on and off for everyday wear. Lace-up sandals are cute with dresses and shorts. Birkenstocks are super comfortable and never go out of style.
Do you have any boho-chic styles already in your wardrobe? Or perhaps you want to add a few new pieces for that well-rounded boho style. With so many fun styles, which pieces are you most excited about wearing?
A clog may be with or without a back and the toes are usually enclosed. The difference between a mule and a clog is that a clog sits atop a chunky, platform-style sole, specifically at the ball of the foot. Right now it’s all about clogs, a classic shoe that has been reinvented in all styles you can imagine. This old-school shoe is getting a makeover for Spring/Summer 2021 and we are here for it!
HISTORY OF CROCS SHOES
There has never been more controversy over a single brand of shoes than Crocs. Is it a gardening shoe, boat shoe, clog, or fashionable everyday street shoe? Whether you love it or hate it, Crocs are making yet another comeback in a major fashionable way. Just to give you an example, sales for Crocs rose 64% in the first quarter 2021 compared to last year’s profits, breaking record sales for the company. Their profit grew to $122.5 million during the first three months this year compared to its previous $18.7 million.
Crocs were created back in 2002 by Lyndon Hanson and Geroge Boedecker, Jr. after they had discovered a revolutionary material of antimicrobial resin foam by a company named Foam Creations. They used a molded foam product to create their first design which they named The Beach. They brought 200 pairs to a Fort Lauderdale boat show and sold out of virtually every single pair of shoes they had made at the time.
Crocs took a genius angle back in 2018 by collaborating with rapper Post Malone and released a pair of Crocs inspired by his tattoos. The “Post Malone X Crocs Barbed Wire Clog collection” sold out in minutes (I remember because I tried to buy a pair by myself waiting *impatiently* on my laptop for the opening of the release). Everyone said they would be a collector’s item and to this day are being auctioned off way above their original $59.99 sticker price. Fashion resellers have new pairs listed anywhere from $500-$2,000 depending on the size. More recently, Crocs did another collaboration with Justin Bieber and the Justin Bieber X Crocs Classic Clog was their biggest collab to date. Lastly, musical director Questlove appeared on the Academy Awards red carpet and created a social media fashion frenzy clad in his gold spray-painted Crocs.
The shoes continued to have much success despite their controversial style. However, they keep bouncing back to stay afloat (so to speak) and today, is another one of those times. Crocs have made a comeback and this time, they are taking the fashion world along for a ride.
CLOGS ARE IN
Now that we have introduced the number one trending clog at the moment, the Croc, let’s dive in and also discuss other styles of clogs that have most definitely hit the fashion scene by storm.
Who could think of a better way to wear your clogs than with an outer layer of sherpa?! Most of these styles have a comfortable footbed that makes them perfect for lounging or to wear outside the house. They are super cozy looking and also give you that sleepwear chic vibe.
Neon clogs are all the rage as we are loving bright, bold colors for spring. It’s also a great twist on a classic retro-style clog that we haven’t seen before. These are adorable to pair with even the simplest of outfits as they will stand out and get lots of attention on their own.
ANIMAL PRINT CLOGS
Instantly jazz up any outfit with animal print clogs! Animal print clogs are taking over in prints like zebra, leopard print, and even calf-hair cow print. Such a cute way to wear your clogs this season.
Clogs with high platforms give your clogs an elevated look which is perfect if you want something a little dressier. You can find them in neutral cognac suede or back leather styles which are equally as chic. Added details like buckles and embellishments are fun extras too.
Even luxury designers are making a high-fashion version of the rubber clog with a rounded toe, slingback style, and rugged sole. These are definitely an on-trend style that will transition well from the garden to dinner out with friends.
FLORAL PRINT CLOGS
Just in time for Spring/Summer: floral prints (or hand-painted florals) are so cute to wear on your clogs. Floral print clogs are super fun even with a simple summer dress or T-shirt and jeans.
The ever-popular Birkenstock brand makes a wide variety of clog-style Birks. I love their Boston style which is a casual one buckle style that you can buy in neutral suede or leather styles alike, Colors like taupes and light browns are classics.
This is your classic Swedish or Dutch staple if you are new to clogs and want to start out slow. Try a neutral color like navy, black, white, or even red if you’re feeling a little bolder.
And finally, to round out this list, it’s the Crocs. Don’t be shy and even wear your Crocs with socks as that’s also a major trend this year. From sherpa to neon, to platform Crocs with charms of your choice, this is a trend we can’t escape. I can’t deny, I’m here for it! I bought my first pair last weekend in white!
After all that talk about Crocs, what do you say? Are you going to rock the Crocs or clogs this Spring and Summer 2021?
Calling all aspiring young fashion designers to the front of the class, please! That’s right this back-to-school season, Zulily, the best online retailer for kids (and moms) is launching a very exciting fashion design contest for kids. Zulily’s Back-to-School, #UniquelyZu Contest will give kids, ages 5-14, an exciting chance to be the trendsetting inspiration for an exclusive capsule collection. Six lucky winners will also be awarded a $6,000 prize package based on the submission of their creative designs. What’s even cooler? Parents and kids will have the opportunity to work alongside designers at Zulily and these designs will be featured in an exclusive capsule collection for kids ranging from swimwear to back-to-school styles.
So, obviously, my initial thoughts were “Why can’t they have this competition for adults like me?” LOL. I mean this sounds like the best opportunity ever if I was a young, budding fashion designer. All selfishness aside, if you are a parent reading this to a young fashion designer or creative kid, encourage them to apply.
This school year is going to be even more exciting than in years past for kids as they will all be getting back into the classroom after nearly a year off. That is also what makes this opportunity so unique. Kids are also looking forward to seeing their friends and once again expressing themselves through fashion and creativity.
Zulily even conducted their own survey where they questioned 1,000 kids across the country and asked them what they are looking forward to in terms of fashion this year. Here are some of the trends that they found.
Trend 1: Movers and Shakers
Kids are excited to shed their sweats and are using fashion and style to feel their best. They say it enhances their performances and boosts their mood too. Among some of the adjectives used, the top words that new clothes make kids feel are: happy, confident and strong. Their personal style is very important to them and their identity. I love the way that kids use fashion as a form of expression as that was super important to me growing up too. I used to obsessively wear a pair of jean booties and a peach skirt and top set with ruffles – and no one could get me out of it! So, I get it.
Trend 2: Glue Guns and Glitter Bombs
Bedazzled jeans are back! Kids are also tapping into their creative side by adding embellishments and having a little fun with the outfits they wear. They say it makes them feel unique having items that represent their true inner self. Therefore, they add patches, sequins, glitter paint, bedazzling, etc. to their clothing to make them feel special and their clothing authentic. I am sensing a lot of young designers on the rise.
Trend 3: Retro & Reimagined
This one made me laugh as I did this same thing when I was growing up. I shopped my mom and dad’s closet for vintage pieces. In some cases, my mom had saved pieces for us kids to wear and so I definitely capitalized on those heeled Capezio cowboy boots from the late ‘70s. Kids once again are turning to mom and dad for retro fashion inspiration and by repurposing clothes to their liking.
So the bottom line here is to encourage your kids to get creative and make sure to practice putting together unique creations. This is a great time to allow your kids to express themselves and what better way than through fashion design?! I think all kids that are itching to get creative to apply!
The contest begins July 7th and ends July 31st and here are all the details you need to know:
- Parents will use their own Instagram accounts to post their child’s submission photo. This creation can be anything that represents their fashion sense from their own fashion creation, lay flat, mood board, design sketch, graphic, or anything else that he or she chooses to create.
- Post to a parent’s Instagram account using both of the hashtags #ZulilyContest and #UniquelyZu
- Fill out this entry form with your submission.

If you’re anything like me then you have caught yourself re-evaluating your loungewear now that it is practically all we have been wearing for the last year. The way I see it, it is a practical reason as the more high quality your loungewear, the longer they will last (longevity), the more sustainable, and higher quality means more comfort and personal satisfaction. Therefore; I think it’s the wisest decision one can make to invest in elevated pieces to build out your loungewear collection. I never thought I would be in a position to care that much about what I am wearing at home, but now that I am a little older and wiser now (lol), I am finally beginning to understand the value in quality over quantity. So, let’s explore all the amazing ways you can upgrade your loungewear and the 5 elevated pieces you need to get you there.
01. SILK PAJAMAS
Yes, that’s right 100% silk pajamas. I think this category belongs in the “treat yo’self” section because let me tell you, silk pajamas are the real deal. I purchased a two-piece set that came with shorts and a tank top and they were supreme! I truly feel like a royal when I sleep in them because they are just that luxurious, I feel like a queen. There’s something to be said about the company I bought them from too, which has now been sold out of this exact set for two months. I wish they would hurry and re-stock so that I can get another pair! In fact, “the silks,” as I like to refer to them as were so dang good, I bought them for my mom as a gift for Mother’s Day. I, in turn, wanted her to live in the lap of luxury throughout the year as well. I gifted her the long high-waisted pant with side slits and cropped button-down short-sleeved silk set in solid black. I know she will get lots of use out of them! So, if you want to feel like a queen, I suggest investing in a silk pajama set too!
02. CASHMERE SETS
Another premium and sustainable fabric, cashmere, can be found in many of the world’s most elegant-looking sets. You take an average style, say joggers and a hoodie, and turn it into sheer class once it’s made out of cashmere. Cashmere sets truly are the definition of elevated loungewear. I also purchased a cashmere set this year in my quest for elevated loungewear and it was another decision I do not regret. I can use it for months to come and it feels oh so luxurious! Look for cashmere sets in neutral colors (black, grey, brown, taupe) as they are also going to last you a long time. Plus, monochromatic sets are the way to go. They can also be very versatile too as you can wear the tops and the bottoms separately. Treat yourself to a cashmere loungewear set, I promise you won’t look back.
Gowns, or slip dresses, are another piece that feels so regal as you slip into bed at night. They are so lightweight and breathable that you feel like you’re wearing nothing. Most of the new gowns or chemises are made to be machine washable silk which makes them even easier to wear over and over again because you for darn sure will. The fun part about these pieces is that many of them can be disguised as slip dresses and be worn over a T-shirt for a fun “going out” look. Or, pair it with an oversized cardigan and you’re in business! You may even opt for a nightgown in a longer nap dress style, with lac, button front, or one that is an elevated sleep shirt. There are so many beautiful styles to choose from, the only decision you have to make is which one?
04. PAJAMA SETS
Another elevated loungewear favorite is the two-piece pajama set. These are so fun because you can go all out with prints and color choices. I recently purchased a pair of satin pajamas with faux-fur feathers on the top sleeve cuffs and bottoms. They give me an old Hollywood glam vibe which makes me feel, well, glamorous! Even if it’s just me by myself at home. Ha! In some cases, it may be a splurge for fabrics like silk but elevated pajamas also look great in satins, velour, bamboo, or modal materials which will feel expensive but at a lower price point. So, whichever version pajama set works for you, just make sure it’s one that feels just as great as it looks!
Finally, under your to-do list of elevated loungewear to acquire is the almighty robe. This is the piece that ties everything together. Now, some sets come with a matching robe which is an added bonus. As in a satin chemise with matching robe set. Or, if you like to own a few, I suggest getting one really fancy robe that makes you feel like a goddess every time you wear it. You may even want a buttery soft velour robe or boucle for winter and an airy short satin robe for summer. Whichever style robe you choose, just make sure it wraps you up in ultimate comfort and makes you feel like the queen that you are!
I hope this guide inspires you to rethink your loungewear and to treat yourself to something nice! Until then, stay tuned for next week’s article where we will dive into a more in-depth discussion on the topic!
It’s one of the most essential pieces in your wardrobe – a staple in the truest meaning of the word and so versatile. I’ve said it before but it’s the one item every woman needs to own at least one of in their collection: The white blouse. It’s classic, timeless, and makes you look instantly chic however you choose to style it. In my opinion, if you only had one top, it should be the white blouse. Recently, I have added many styles to my collection: the boyfriend, textured, the classic, and one with puffy sleeves. The point being, they all serve various purposes and can be worn on multiple occasions. That’s why I love having a few in many styles in my arsenal. Today, I want to explain how you can wear a white blouse, of all different styles, and why it’s the best choice ever!
No wardrobe is complete without one classic white blouse. It’s the best worn on its own or for layering, so make sure that yours is high quality too. This is one of those pieces that will last forever so if the fit and the feel of the blouse is just right – it will consistently stay in your outfit rotation. A classic white blouse will pair well with jeans for casual wear to two-piece suits for work. It’s so versatile, this shirt is meant for styling in all the ways possible.
White button-ups get a casual, cool vibe when made out of a textured almost boho style. This top is more casual, so you can wear it open or buttoned up front tucked into jeans or shorts for summer. Longer versions work well here too as textured white button-ups are made for bathing suit cover-ups too. Simply wear loosely over your favorite bathing suit, throw on some flip-flops and you’re ready for any pool or beach day in the sun!
When you want to take your white blouse to the next level, choose this puffy sleeve option to truly elevate any look. Again, this white blouse can be worn with jeans and braided/woven kitten heels or with your dressiest trousers. Either way, this is a look that will speak volumes!
The boxier, boyfriend-style cuts are crisp and also very versatile. This style can look casual untucked with jeans or tucked into high-waisted trousers for a more formal look. It’s practically like you stole your boyfriend’s white button-down and made it all your own. Super chic and very of the moment right now.
The dual front utility-style pockets or one strong square single pocket white blouse is another way to rock your white blouse. This white blouse is so versatile it will have you ready for work or the weekend in one of the most appealing cuts.
Some of the best white button-downs are oversized and drapey and made out of cotton or linen. It’s so adaptable too meaning it works well on various body shapes as you can create a multitude of ways to wear it. You can wear french tucked or tie it up in front to accentuate a higher waistline. It’s another one of those shirts you can wear with anything and look like a million bucks.
If your classic white blouse isn’t quite keeping you cool enough during the heat of the summer months, the short-sleeve white blouse is your best-kept secret. Try a casual linen style with rolled cuff sleeves and a classic collar. The buttons can even be more casual in natural wood or opalescent buttons. The short-sleeve button-ups are the best worn with denim shorts and sandals for the coolest, casual look of them all.
HOW TO STYLE IN THE SUMMER:
I can’t think of a better way to wear a white blouse during the summer than to style an oversized version of the shirt over a bikini or one-piece this summer. It’s so so so chic, effortless, and did I mention an easy way to pull off that “cool-girl” vibe?! All you’ll need to bring is your summer essentials – your beach bag, sunglasses, and flip-flops. The rest you’ve already got covered – in the chicest cover-up of them all: the white blouse.
When the heat begins to turn up, tie your white blouse at the waist to create not only a waistline but a style that is so on-point for summer. This look would be so cute with jean cut-off shorts, cropped denim, or your ‘90s khaki trousers. Add a bright-colored slide sandal and your straw tote bag for a look that will have your friends “fit to be tied.”
A classic white blouse will pair perfectly with any style of summer shorts too. You can tuck it into your paper bag shorts for a classic look if you’re going for more of an elevated look or you can wear it with your sporty bike shorts. One of my favorite looks for summer is the classic white blouse with jean cut-offs and a simple sandal. It’s one of the easiest ways to look polished and put together with minimal effort. That’s the beauty of the white blouse, it will always make your look “smarter” worn in the most simple of ways.
Which ways do you plan to wear your white blouse this spring/summer?
I have never felt more ready than right now to finally be able to debut all the great finds that I have collected during quarantine in preparation for this very moment! Alas, I will reserve the infamous TikTok leggings and other embarrassing fashion purchases I made for another time. For now, it’s about putting your best foot forward as you begin to reemerge into the social world again. Yes, you’ll be visiting friends, attending summer BBQ get-togethers, and resume attending dinner parties out again. This means you must dress the part. So let’s round up the best summer outfits and ideas for 2021 that will get you started thinking about it.
Isn’t it true that wearing a dress just makes you feel a bit more elegant and beautiful? This summer, dresses are all across the board from mini to maxi, and come in all shapes and styles. Some of the most trending styles are styles with cutouts, bright colors like bubblegum pink, sheer maxis, tie-dye, mesh, off-the-shoulder, and halters to name a few. So the next time you want to play dress-up, pick a style that makes you feel gorgeous.
This is another personal fave of mine. So, you heard it here first, I think this is going to be a major fashion “do” this summer. I just saw this on Instagram yesterday and quickly researched how, when, and where I could find one ASAP. Turns out it was designer, so I’ll be over here on Zulily finding the next best thing or similar set. In the meantime, shorts sets are super cute because they are a matching short and short-sleeve button-down combo. You can wear the top flowy and unbuttoned with a tank or crop top. Or, you can wear it buttoned and front tucked. Your choice. Shorts sets are also perfect as bathing suit cover-ups for your next vacay too! They pair so well over bikinis or one-pieces.
As we have discussed, button-down shirts are a must always more now more than ever. While white will remain a safe and fashionable choice, so is an oversize button-down in a bright shade. We are seeing bold colors pop up everywhere for summer, so why not add a little color to your button-down? These work well as bathing suit cover-ups or with cut-off jean shorts too!
Yes, this is now a thing. Just like matching sweatsuit sets became a major fashion must in 2020 and 2021, so is the matching three-piece bathing suit. This means a bikini and matching button-down which you can style worn open, buttoned up or front tied. It’s a super chic idea and one of the biggest trends this summer. So, whether you find a coordinating three-piece suit in a bold colorful print or the ever-popular lurex, it’s going to be a hit. It’s not just a swimsuit anymore, it’s a whole LEWK!
PALAZZO PANTS AND CROP TOP
I am loving a cool high-waisted wide-leg palazzo pant and crop top set for summer. These sets also come in so many unique styles and prints so you can let your imagination run wild. Speaking of wild, during quarantine, I purchased a wide-leg flowy palazzo pant with a front tie and matching button-down top that I can’t wait to wear. Plus, the best part about a set is they are so versatile you can wear them as separates too! Bold retro-inspired prints from the ‘60s and ‘70s are also on-trend.
Crochet is another trending item to add to your summer must-haves. This is such a fun retro trend that I myself couldn’t be more excited for. I recall a purple crochet bikini I once had as a young girl that I was fully obsessed with. Brands like Free People have some great crochet items that will bring that boho vibe to life. Look for bold crochet designs like floral printed crochet shorts, neutral striped crochet tanks, or even crochet bikini tops and bottoms. You’ve been warned, crochet is weaving its way onto the scene and is going to be hot this summer.
Be prepared to see lots of platform sandals in your future as they are going to be everywhere this summer. From dad sandals to thong sandals, even Crocs, yes Crocs, this is a style that will bring back that Y2K fashion in full effect. Snag a pair in a classic black thong style or even a bright-colored platform that will literally lift you and your spirits up!
From the Instagram famous acrylic colorful rings to colored aviator lenses expect to see lots of colorful accessories to complete your look this summer. We are even seeing lots of colored handbags (baguettes and clutches) that fit the bill perfectly. Colorful accessories are a great way to add a little bit of life to any classic outfit too like a t-shirt and jean shorts. So be sure to add a few fun and colorful pieces to complete your summer wardrobe.
So are you ready for summer yet? I don’t know if you can tell but I am! I hope you can find some fun summer inspo out of this complete list of summer 2021 trends!
